I also have Google Drive access through the Linux Online Accounts, but it does not seem active until I click it through my file manager? I don't think the Online Accounts option provides automatic syncing either. ![]() I use "insync" for Google Drive which works well but is a paid for application. Unfortunately, Google does not yet provide their own Linux client. I would recommend that you read the link to Google Drives and the links within that. This is very convenient when using KeePass on multiple computers using multiple operating systems and or smartphones and or tablets. Store and synchronize your passwords with the free KeePassXCįYI: If you use any cloud provider's sync client and create or use a shared sync folder where you put your KeePass databases in, it will be updated locally and remotely in your cloud account when you make changes. Sync with Google Drive in Linux: Working Example : KeePass There are various Google Drive clients and access options including through the system settings online accounts option. Meaning the Google Drive must be "mounted" and or available. In order to use a cloud provider like Google Drive, you would need to have access to your Google Drive folder before you start a KeePass program. I do recommend using KeePassXC which can be installed through the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)" or from their PPA and all of them can read KeePass v2 databases locally or remotely. You do know that you can install Linux versions of KeePassXC (cross platform), KeePassX, or KeePass2, without using Linux Wine? I would highly recommend that you do not use KeePass in Wine. If you run " inxi -Fxzd" and " lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. The solution is to open ~/.gdfuse/default/config and set mv_keep_target=true.It would help to know more about your system setup. Since KeePassium tries to access the database using an old reference, Google Drive repots that the old file has been deleted. The reason is that google-drive-ocamlfuse creates a new file ID when KeePassXC saves the database. The detailed diagnostic info shows that the database file has been deleted: Failed to access the file [įileProvider: ,Ĭode=4101 "Geen communicatie mogelijk met een helperapp." If you use google-drive-ocamlfuse with KeePassXC, KeePassium might often complain that Google Drive does not respond. FUSE filesystem over Google Drive (google-drive-ocamlfuse) Unfortunately, shortcuts seem to be read-only, so KeePassium will not be able to save the database. This will make the database accessible to the file system, Files, and KeePassium. Partial workaround: Google Drive app → Shared → … button for the shared file → Add shortcut to Drive. Google Drive does not expose shared files to the Files app, so they cannot be added to KeePassium directly. The solution is to turn off the Privacy Screen in Google Drive settings. ![]() As a result, Google Drive does not respond to KeePassium’s attempts to read the database. The Privacy Screen blocks access to Google Drive files from other apps. This often happens after you add your database to KeePassium and then enable the Privacy Screen in Google Drive. When you select a database, Google Drive complains it does not know anything about. When you tap “Open Google Drive” in that dialog - you switch from KeePassium to Google Drive app. When you open a file selection dialog in KeePassium, the system shows “Authentication required”. This feature blocks access to files from other apps, such as KeePassium. This is caused by the Privacy Screen in Google Drive. “Unsupported file type” when selecting a database To share any offline changes, you will need to export the database back to Google Drive. This will create a local in-app copy of the database, that will not be synchronized with Google Drive. Google Drive does not work offline, even if the database file was “Made available offline”.Īs a workaround, you can open Google Drive app, select your database, press Open In and then Copy to KeePassium. If Google Drive is not visible in the list, make it visible. If you already have other databases, tap + and choose Open Database. If the app was just installed, tap Add Existing Database.Install Google Drive app and login into your account. How to sync KeePassium with Google Drive # sync # guide # google-drive Setup FUSE filesystem over Google Drive (google-drive-ocamlfuse). ![]()
